A Massachusetts man has won big money on a scratch ticket while doing something nice for a friend.
According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Robert J. Ostrye Jr. of New Bedford is the winner of a $4 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$4,000,000 Monopoly Doubler” $10 instant ticket game.
Ostrye Jr. chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $2,600,000 (before taxes). He said he plans on doing some home renovations and helping others with his winnings.
He purchased his winning ticket at Jay’s Wine & Spirits, 446 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford while getting a birthday present for a friend. The store will receive a $40,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
