Massachusetts man who plans on getting away won life-changing money playing Keno; here is how he did it

Many of us are familiar with the ad campaign “want to get away?”. Those words are true for a Massachusetts man after hitting big money playing Keno.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, John Connolly Jr. of Weymouth, MA is the winner of a $120,000 prize after all nine of the numbers he played on his Keno ticket.

By choosing to add the Bonus multiplier to his wager for an additional $1 per game, Connolly Jr. was able to turn a $40,000 prize into $120,000 when the 3X Bonus multiplier was drawn for the game. He said the numbers he played were a combination of birthdays and anniversaries.

Connolly Jr. claimed his prize at Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters in Dorchester. He said he plans to take a vacation and invest his winnings.

He bought his winning ticket at The Brew House, 703 Granite St. in Braintree. The Brew House receives a $1,200 bonus for its sale of this ticket.

Keno players have the option of selecting from 1 to 12 numbers (spots) to play from a field of numbers from 1 to 80. Prizes and odds of winning vary based on the number of spots played. For each Keno game, a total of 20 winning numbers are randomly selected. Playing Keno Bonus doubles the price of a wager and gives players a chance to multiply their prize 3, 4, 5 or 10 times if a multiplier number is drawn for that game.
