Boston – A Massachusetts man with several warrants reportedly didn’t go the route of trying to blend in with the crowd to not be caught.

According to Transit Police, on Friday at approximately 7:30 a.m., Transit Police officers assigned to the Central District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA’s State Street Station for a report of a naked man in the entrance to the Orange Line causing alarm to other passengers.

Upon arrival, officers observed a man, later identified as 44-year-old Vashon Roberts of Boston, clothed in only his underwear. Officers approached Roberts and inquired if he was okay. Roberts responded by inquiring if everything was okay with the officers and initially furnished a false name. Officers explained they were called there for a naked man causing other passengers to be concerned. Roberts pointed out he was not naked and had his underwear on. The officers acknowledged that fact and attempted to see if Roberts wanted any services or any other way they could assist him. Roberts denied any offer of assistance.

Officers discovered that there were several warrants in existence for Roberts’ arrest issued out of Roxbury District Court for Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Ayer District Court for Uttering False Checks, and Dorchester District Court for Violation of a Domestic Abuse Prevention Order.

Roberts was placed into custody and transported to Transit Police Department Headquarters for the arrest booking process.
