Massachusetts man suffers serious burns over head, face, arms, legs after boat erupted in flames on Cape Cod
A Massachusetts man is recovering from serious injuries after a weekend boat incident
According to CBS Boston, on Sunday, August 18th, a boat erupted in flames in a Cape Cod yard, resulting in severe burns to a man who needed to be airlifted to a Boston burn center for treatment.
The incident occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m. at a residence on Skating Rink Road in Hyannis.
According to Hyannis Fire Captain David Webb, responders arrived to discover the 25-foot vessel completely consumed by fire. The boat’s 63-year-old owner was performing maintenance on it when the blaze ignited.
A GoFundMe fundraiser states that Joe (his last name was not released) “was inside the boat at the time of the accident and had to be med-flighted to Boston, where he remains in the ICU. He has suffered second- and partial third-degree burns to his head, face, both arms, and legs—covering about 40% of his body. He has not yet been cleared for surgery, and his recovery is being taken day by day. “
