Massachusetts man sentenced to 2 years to serve for role in crash that killed promising 17-year-old
A Massachusetts man has been sentenced for his role in a crash that killed a promising young teen.
According to police, 30-year-old Christopher Milien of Medway pled guilty in Worcester Superior Court to multiple charges including Motor Vehicle Homicide by Reckless Operation, Reckless Endangerment of a Child, and Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor. Milien was sentenced to 21⁄2 years with 2 years to serve in the House of Correction, followed by 3 years of probation, a 15-year loss of license and 100 hours of community service.
The plea stems from a motor vehicle crash that occurred on June 30, 2021, on Granite Street in Bellingham, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old female passenger, Jenna Louise Giardini of Mendon.
According to Boston 25 News, the speed limit on Granite Street is 20 MPH, but according to the District Attorney’s office, Milien was driving between 40 MPH and 53 MPH.
The Bellingham Police Department extended its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim.
“This tragic incident underscores the devastating consequences of reckless driving and poor decision-making behind the wheel. We urge all motorists to operate vehicles safely, avoid reckless behavior, and remember that every choice on the road carries the potential to impact lives forever.”
According to The Greg Hill Foundation, Jenna had just “graduated from Nipmuc Regional High School and was planning on attending the University of Massachusetts, Boston in the fall. She was planning on entering the nursing program and had aspirations of working in the oncology department after watching her grandfather battle with cancer. She was a sweet, caring person who had a true desire to help others.”
This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lisa Casella of the Office of Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.
