Massachusetts man reveals plans after hitting $1 million Mega Millions prize
A Massachusetts man has already decided what he plans to do with the big money he just won playing Mega Millions.
According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Melvin McKenzie is the winner of a $1 million Mega Millions prize after the first five numbers on his Quic Pic ticket matched those selected in the multi-state game’s drawing held Friday, April 14.
McKenzie, who is from Boston, claimed his prize Tuesday, April 18 at Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters in Dorchester and received a one-time payment of $1,000,000 (before taxes). He plans on putting his winnings toward buying a house.
His winning ticket was purchased at Quick Pick Convenience, 973 Tremont Street in Boston. The store receives a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
Mega Millions is played in 45 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. in Atlanta, GA.
