Massachusetts man plans to upgrade after becoming first State Lottery $1,000 a Week for Life winner

A Massachusetts man plans on making an upgrade after hitting it big on a State Lottery scratch ticket.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Leigh Corbin of New Bedford is the first $1,000 a week for life prize winner in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s new “$1,000 a Week for Life” $5 instant ticket game that went on sale on Tuesday, February 18.

Corbin chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $800,000 (before taxes).

He plans on investing and upgrading his apartment with the winnings.

The winning ticket was purchased at America’s Market, 1502 Acushnet Ave. in New Bedford. The store will receive a $10,400 bonus for its sale of this ticket
