A Massachusetts man has his priorities in order after hitting big money on a State Lottery scratch ticket.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Manuel Gilmete of Taunton is the first $1 million prize winner in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s new “Strike It Rich” $10 instant ticket game that went on sale Tuesday, May 12.

Gilmete chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes). He said he plans to do some home repairs and take care of his family with the winnings.

He purchased his winning ticket at Grab ‘N’ Go, 443 Crescent St. in Brockton. The store receives a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.

The “Strike It Rich” instant ticket includes five more instant prizes of $1 million.
