Massachusetts man makes wise choice after winning $1 million lottery prize; here is what he plans to do with the cash

A Massachusetts man has reason to celebrate after hitting big money on a lottery ticket.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Paulo Da Costa of Everett is the winner of a $1 million prize on a Powerball ticket purchased in Massachusetts for the multi-state game’s Monday, September 1 drawing that featured a $1.2 billion jackpot.

Da Costa won the prize after the first five numbers on his ticket matched those selected in the drawing. He claimed his $1 million prize (before taxes) Monday, September 8 at the Massachusetts State Lottery’s Dorchester headquarters. He said he plans to invest and save the winnings. 

His winning ticket was purchased at Market Basket, 275 Squire Rd. in Revere. The store receives a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
