Massachusetts man killed in crash on I-195 Monday
Colonel James M. Manni, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Director of the Department of Public Safety, reports that one person died in a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 195 in East Providence yesterday evening.
The victim was identified as Victor Pereira, age 25, of Seekonk, Massachusetts.
Troopers received a report of a motor vehicle crash at approximately 9:12 p.m. on Interstate 195 East, just west of Exit 7, where a motor vehicle exited the lane of travel and struck the rear of a construction truck in the breakdown lane.
The operator of the motor vehicle was transported to Rhode Island Hospital and pronounced deceased at the hospital. The operator of the construction truck was not injured as a result of the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
