Massachusetts man killed in bicycle crash recently lost wife, remembered for love of bikes

A Massachusetts man killed in a bicycle crash this week is being remembered.

According to Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey, at just after 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, police responded to the area of 1378 Washington St. (Route 138) after receiving a 911 call reporting a bicyclist struck by a motor vehicle.

On arrival, police found the bicyclist, 39-year-old Mark Salvador of Stoughton, on the ground. He was transported by a Stoughton ambulance to a Boston hospital where he was pronounced deceased about an hour later.

According to an obituary, Salvador had a lifelong passion for mechanics and enjoyed riding his dirt bike or street bike. The love of his life, Lauren, passed away in January.

Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, August 6 from 4-7 PM. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Friday, August 7 at 9:30 AM. Due to repairs at Immaculate Conception Church, Mark’s Funeral Mass will follow at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark‘s memory may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215 or www.childrenshospital.org.

The crash remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the MSP Crime Scene Services Section, and Stoughton Police.

No other details on the crash have been released.
