Massachusetts man is on the move after hitting $1 million State Lottery prize

A Massachusetts man is looking to move after hitting big money recently on a State Lottery scratch ticket.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, John Swan of Greenfield is the winner of a $1 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$1,000,000 Merry & Bright” $5 instant ticket game.

Swan, who was joined by his wife Tracy when claiming his prize at the Lottery’s Dorchester headquarters, opted to receive his prize in the form of a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes). Swan said he plans on purchasing a new home with his winnings. 

He purchased his winning ticket at Orange General Store, 217 East Main Street in Orange. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.

The “$1,000,000 Merry & Bright” ticket is one of six holiday-themed tickets that launched on October 15. In addition to chances to win top prizes ranging from $500 to $1 million, players can enter non-winning holiday tickets into a drawing for chances to win cash prizes from $100 to $10,000.
