Massachusetts man hits $1 million State Lottery win while stopping to buy wife gift

Husbands take note as shopping for a gift turned into a big State Lottery win for a Massachusetts man.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, John Brennan of Rochdale has claimed the sixth and final $1 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$4,000,000 Platinum Jackpot” $10 instant ticket game.

He chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes).

Brennan turned a stop to buy his wife a Christmas gift into a win by purchasing the winning ticket.

He purchased his winning ticket at Daily Convenience, 714 Southbridge St. in Auburn. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.

$4,000,000 Platinum Jackpot has zero $1,000,000 and one $4,000,000 prizes remaining.
