Massachusetts man held without bail on over a dozen charges after gun, cash, nearly 30 pounds of drugs seized

A Massachusetts man is facing a slew of drug and gun charges after an arrest this week.

On Thursday, the Quincy Police Department Drug Control Unit arrested a 33-year-old Quincy man as a result of a narcotics investigation in West Quincy.

Nghia Van Huynh was arrested by QPD Detectives at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Turning Mill Lane after an investigation into illegal drug activity in the area. 

As a result of Huynh’s arrest and probable cause related thereto the Drug Control Unit detectives obtained a search warrant for the home where Huynh lived. Detectives seized about 8.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, over 600 grams of Ketamine, 16 grams of cocaine, 390 grams of MDMA, 400 grams of synthetic cathinones also known as bath salts, 7 lbs. of marijuana and 400 vape cartridges and hallucinogenic mushrooms (Psilocybin), an illegal firearm, ammunition and over $61,000 in cash. 

Huynh is charged with the following offenses: 

  1. Trafficking 200+ grams of Methamphetamine 
  2. Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class A substance 
  3. Distribution of a Class D substance. 
  4. Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D 
  5. Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B (Cocaine) 
  6. Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B (MDMA) 
  7. Possession with Intent to Distribute Class C (Psilocybin) 
  8. Possession with Intent to Distribute Class C (Synthetic Cathinones) 
  9. Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Laws 
  10. Possession of Firearm without a Firearm Identification Card 
  11. Possession of Firearm with FID Card 
  12. Improper Storage of a Firearm 
  13. Possession of a Firearm While Committing a Felony

According to court records, Huynh was arraigned Friday in Quincy District Court and pled not guilty. He was held without bail on dangerousness with a probable cause hearing scheduled for August 28th.
