A Massachusetts man is being accused of a disturbing crime.

According to police, on Friday, at approximately 8:15 p.m., a female entered the lobby of police headquarters to report a suspicious incident that occurred moments prior at a residence in Southbridge.

The female stated that she was working for a dog walking app and was contacted by a female to watch her dogs for a few hours. The female stated that when she arrived at the residence, she was greeted outside by a man (not a female) and they entered the residence.

Upon entry, the female noticed it was dark inside and she did not believe the dogs that she was hired were present in the home. The female then alleged that at some point the man positioned himself near the door of the residence to prevent her from leaving and asked her to go upstairs. The female was in fear for her safety and was able to flee the residence and immediately drove to police headquarters.

As a result of this investigation, 62-year-old Mark L. Miller of Belmont Street in Southbridge was charged with kidnapping.

According to court records, Miller was held on $500 cash ($5,000 bond) bail and was arraigned in Dudley District Court on Monday. Bail was later posted.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
