A local man has some fun plans after hitting big money on a State Lottery scratch ticket.
According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, David Strickland of Lakeville is the first $1 million prize winner in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s new “$25,000,000 Mega Money” $50 instant ticket game that went on sale Tuesday, May 13.
He chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes). Strickland said he has never taken a vacation before but plans to change that by putting his winnings towards a trip to Las Vegas.
Strickland couldn’t sleep for three days after winning the big prize.
The ticket was purchased at Bristol County Wine and Spirits, 128 Myricks St. in Berkley. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
The “$25,000,000 Mega Money instant ticket includes 11 more instant prizes of $1 million, three more of $2 million, and three grand prizes of $25,000,000. The game’s Second Chance Drawings will include up to ten drawings during the sales period of the game. In each of the Second Chance Drawings, players will have the opportunity to win second chance prizes ranging from $100 to $50,000.
