Massachusetts man has some exciting plans after hitting $1 million prize on State Lottery scratch ticket

He may not look like it, but a Massachusetts man has some exciting plans after hitting big money on a State Lottery scratch ticket.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Jose Fernandes of Brockton is the winner of a $1 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “Diamond Deluxe” $30 instant ticket game. He is the Mass Lottery’s first $1 million prize winner of 2025.

Fernandes chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes). He said he plans on purchasing a new home and car with his winnings. 

He purchased his winning ticket at R & K Food Mart, 77 Legion Pkwy. in Brockton. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
