Massachusetts man has family in mind after hitting $1 million State lottery prize on instant game

A Massachusetts man is all about family after hitting big money on a State Lottery scratch ticket.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, John Hanafin of Hyannis is the winner of a $1 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “Diamond Deluxe” $30 instant ticket game.

Hanafin chose the annuity option on his prize and received the first of 20 annual payments of $50,000 (before taxes). He said he plans on putting the winnings towards his family.

He purchased his winning ticket at Corner Food Mart, 640 Main St. in Hyannis. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.

Diamond Deluxe has two $15,000,000 and five $1,000,000 prizes remaining.
