Massachusetts man dies in nightclub roof collapse, family members trying to bring him home

A victim of the tragic nightclub roof collapse in the Dominican Republic earlier this week is a Massachusetts resident.

The collapse at the Jet Set nightclub occurred on Tuesday, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, during a performance by merengue singer Rubby Pérez.

The disaster has killed at least 225 people and injured over 150, making it one of the deadliest non-natural disasters in the country’s history.

Among the victims was Gustavo Noel Suero of Lawrence.

Suero was being described as a kind soul who touched so many lives. He was a devoted father, loving son, and cherished friend. His radiant smile and warm spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

His family is now trying to bring him back to Massachusetts so he can be laid to rest surrounded by loved ones.

The GoFundMe fundraiser has raised nearly $17,000 as of this writing.

The cause of the roof collapse is still under investigation.
