Massachusetts man claims $1 million prize after purchasing ticket at gas station
DORCHESTER, MA (July 27, 2023) – The third $1 million prize won on a ticket sold in Massachusetts for the Wednesday, July 19 Powerball drawing that featured a $1.08 billion jackpot has been claimed.
Brendan Stewart of Waltham collected his $1 million prize (before taxes) at Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters in Dorchester on Thursday, July 27.
Stewart won his prize after the first five numbers on his Quic Pic ticket matched those selected in the drawing. He plans to use some of his winnings to buy a new smartwatch.
He purchased his winning ticket at Global Montello/Gulf, 821 Main St. in Waltham. The store receives a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
On Friday, July 21, Jan Busby of Norfolk and Rae Ann Wentworth-Cadieux of Hadley claimed their $1 million prizes. Busby purchased her ticket at Shaw’s Supermarket, 255 East Central St. in Franklin. Wentworth-Cadieux bought her winning ticket at Pride Station & Store, 445 Russell St. in Hadley.
The $1.08 billion jackpot was won on a ticket sold in California.
