Massachusetts man arrested in fatal Raynham crash, sentenced to prison today on separate OUI case

A Massachusetts man recently arrested on multiple charges in a fatal Raynham crash has pled guilty to an incident that took place earlier this year.

According to police, at approximately 6:00 p.m. on January 20th, Rehoboth Ptlw. Alora Clemens was traveling eastbound in the area of 119 Winthrop Street (Route 44). At this time, she observed a gray Honda Accord traveling westbound at a high rate of speed. In addition to the high rate of speed, Ptlw. Clemens observed the Honda cross over the center line, enter the eastbound lane of travel. The Honda then struck a Dodge Caravan that was traveling eastbound on Winthrop St. head on. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage as a result of the crash.

The operator of the Caravan, a 39-year-old Rhode Island woman was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. The operator of the Honda was identified as 22-year-old Jacob Larsen of Avon, Massachusetts. He was also transported to a local hospital for injuries he suffered.

During the investigation of the crash, Larsen displayed signs and symptoms of intoxication of alcohol. Based on the results of the investigation, he was taken into custody.

Court record show that on Wednesday in Taunton District Court, Larsen pled guilty to OUI, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Operating with a Suspended License and was sentenced to 1 year in prison with 2 years of probation. He is not allowed to drive and must remain drug & alcohol free with SCRAM testing 3 times a day.

Concerning the fatal Raynham crash, Larsen was arraigned in the Taunton District Court on Monday on charges of Motor Vehicle Homicide by Negligence and Operating a Motor Vehicle while License Suspended for OUI and was issued bail in the amount of $2,500.
