Massachusetts man arrested, charged after being accused of holding down cat, striking it with belt
Thanks to a bystander, a Massachusetts man is facing a disturbing charge after an incident over the weekend.
According to police, as a result of a tip from a concerned citizen Everett Police responded to Broadway to investigate a report of animal cruelty.
Arrested without incident was Hector Quijada-Portillo, 44 of Everett.
Saturday night a little after 9:00 p.m., a concerned citizen came into the police station and showed officers a video of Portillo striking the cat with a belt, while holding it down.
Portillo was placed in custody and will be charged with Animal Cruelty charges and an outstanding warrant.
The cat was secured by Everett’s Animal Control Officer.
Portillo is expected to be arraigned on Monday in Malden District Court.
