Massachusetts man accused of stabbing his father several times, facing several charges
A Massachusetts man is facing several charges after allegedly stabbing a man several times.
According to Barnstable Police, on Tuesday, at approximately 3:50 p.m., the Barnstable Police Department received multiple 911 calls regarding a 62-year-old male who had been stabbed multiple times at a residence on Old Stage Road in Centerville.
Upon arrival, the 24-year-old male suspect, who is known to the victim, was identified and taken into custody.
The victim was transported via MedFlight to a Rhode Island hospital for life threatening injuries.
Police stated that the incident was not random and is being investigated by the Barnstable Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Cape & Islands Detective Unit.
The suspect, who according to WCVB is the victim’s son, Ygor Barboza, was arraigned on Wednesday at Barnstable District Court on the charges of Armed Assault to Murder, Assault & Battery on a Person Over 60, and Assault & Battery Dangerous Weapon on a Person Over 60.
Barboza was transported to Bridgewater State Hospital for evaluation as family members say they have had a difficult time getting the suspect mental help.
