Massachusetts hospitalizations, cases, and deaths continue decline as Baker states Massachusetts is past the surge
Today, Massachusetts saw a continued decrease in COVID-19 deaths and hospitalizations.
Massachusetts has seen 442 more positive cases announced in the last 24 hours. A decrease from the previous 24 hour period.
The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total cases to 93,693 with 57 more reported dead for a total of 6,473.
Massachusetts had seen 596 more positive cases in the previous 24 hour period.
4,920 tests were performed, over 3,200 less than the total released yesterday, to increase the overall total to 545,481.
Hospitalizations have decreased in 13 of the last 14 days and deaths have dropped for the last several days.

Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to May 19th

According to the CDC, as of May 26th, the total amount of cases in the country is 1,662,414 with 98,261 dead.
Today in the COVID-19 update news conference, Governor Charlie Baker stated that we are past the surge of coronavirus cases.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Governor Charlie Baker and Lt. Governor Karyn Polito joined legislative leaders and local officials Monday to recognize Memorial Day in a virtual ceremony. Secretary of Veterans’ Services Francisco Ureña, Senate President Karen Spilka, House Speaker Robert DeLeo, and Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs Co-Chairs Senator Walter F. Timility and Representative Linda Dean Campbell provided video remarks, and the Massachusetts National Guard performed a special Tribute to the Fallen Wreath Ceremony.
The flags presented to Governor Baker and Major General Gary W. Keefe by the Color Guard during this ceremony have flown above the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, and the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon, as a mark of solemn respect and in honor of the veterans lost during the COVID-19 public health emergency.

Governor Charlie Baker is participating in the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund’s Memorial Day Wreath Laying Ceremony. Then, Governor Baker and Lt. Governor Karyn Polito will join Secretary of Veterans Services Francisco Ureña, Senate President Karen Spilka, House Speaker Robert DeLeo and Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs Co-Chairs Senator Walter F. Timility and Representative Linda Dean Campbell to participate in a virtual ceremony recognizing Memorial Day.

In addition the virtual Memorial Day Ceremony, through the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the Department of Veterans’ Services, building managers and Veterans Service Officers across the Commonwealth, buildings, bridges, flags, and parks throughout the Commonwealth were illuminated in gold to honor Gold Star Families last night including Fall River Government Center.
