Massachusetts homeless man, level 3 sex offender, accused of killing friend, stabbing him over 20 times
BROCKTON – A homeless man pleaded not guilty today to a charge that he fatally stabbed his 68-year-old friend, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz has announced.
Today in Brockton District Court, 70-year-old Tyrone Henderson of Brockton, a level 3 sex offender, pleaded not guilty to one count of Murder. He was held without bail.
On Friday, at just after 9:45 p.m., Brockton Police received a 911 call for a report of a stabbing, inside an apartment at 46 Spring Street. Upon arrival, Brockton Police and emergency medical personnel found a male stabbed multiple times in the neck, chest, and leg. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as 68-year-old Mark Courtney.
Brockton Police identified the suspect as Henderson, who remained on scene and was taken into custody inside the apartment building. Brockton Police contacted the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, to begin the investigation.
As a result of the investigation, detectives developed probable cause, and Henderson was arrested and charged with one count of Murder. The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner accepted jurisdiction of the case and will determine manner and cause of death. It is estimated that Henderson allegedly stabbed Courtney 22 times.
According to Boston 25 News, Henderson admitted to police that he killed Courtney over a stolen wallet.
Henderson is next scheduled to appear in court on December 5th.
