Massachusetts Governor Healey will “hold the line” when it comes to deportation of migrants under Trump
Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey was on MSNBC yesterday and when asked if the Trump Administration requested, would the Massachusetts State Police assist in mass deportations, Healey adamantly responded “No. Absolutely not.”
President-elect Trump campaigned on the promise “to have the largest deportation in the history of our country” if elected and now that he has won the election, many expect for him to act on those plans.
Massachusetts has received over 20,000 migrants from the southern border since the fall of 2022, thanks to it’s sanctuary state status. Costs associated with the influx of the mostly Haitian migrant group has exceeded $1 billion and is projected to cost taxpayers an additional $1 billion next fiscal year.
Healey, however, won’t make it easy for the Trump administration, vowing to use legislation and executive power to stop migrants from being deported.
“Every tool in the toolbox is going to be used to protect our citizens, to protect our residents and to protect our state” and that she intends to “hold the line on democracy and the rule of law” in Massachusetts.
