We all know that being a first responder is not an easy job which makes a recent State Lottery win that much sweeter.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Steven Koberski of Rutland is the winner of a $500,000 grand prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$500,000 Frenzy” $50 scratch ticket game.

He chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $355,000 (before taxes). He plans to invest his winnings.

Koberski told the lottery that he is a firefighter and picked the ticket from the dispenser that shared his badge number.

He purchased his winning ticket at Family Farms, 87 Main St. in Rutland. The store will receive a $5,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.

$500,000 Frenzy has 36 $500,000 grand prizes remaining.
