A 47-year-old local man is facing several charges after an alleged incident that took place on Wednesday.

According to court records, Jesse Maura of Freetown was arraigned Thursday on Attempted Murder, Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Strangulation or Suffocation, and Assault & Battery charges.

A MEP spokesperson noted that while on patrol in Freetown, a Massachusetts Environmental Police officer witnessed two men fighting in the front yard of a home.

Both men were detained. One of the men was arrested and brought to Freetown PD for booking. The man was later brought to the Bristol County Jail.

Because this is an open investigation, no other information could be provided at this time.

Court records show that at arraignment, Maura pled not guilty and was released on personal recognizance with a probable cause hearing scheduled for June 8th.
