Massachusetts Environmental Police announce passing of K9 who worked events and incidents across the state

The Massachusetts Environmental Police has announced the passing of K-9 Jett (ret.)

K9 Jett served with the Massachusetts Environmental Police for approximately 9 years from 2014 until her retirement in 2023. K9 Jett was certified in tracking /search and rescue, as well as explosive and firearms detection.

K9 Jett logged hundreds of hours alongside her handler E.P.O O’Connell serving and keeping the citizens of the Commonwealth safe. K-9 Jett has worked numerous large venues and events across the state to include the Boston Marathon, Boston Fourth of July celebrations, and the Tall Ships events just to name a few.

She has assisted many local, state and federal agencies such as the FBI, ATF, and the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad, as well as many city and town agencies across the state.

K-9 Jett assisted in the investigation of conservation and hunting related crimes through her keen ability to locate ballistic evidence. K-9 Jett is also responsible for locating many lost hunters and hikers during her time as an EPO K-9.

K-9 Jett loved to work and served enthusiastically with pride and dignity.

MEP stated that Jett will be missed, and they thank her for her service, loyalty, and friendship.
