Massachusetts DOT announces work on Veterans Memorial Bridge to cause 6 bridge openings

FALL RIVER/SOMERSET– The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has announced it will be performing a bridge inspection on the Veterans Memorial Bridge eastbound and westbound (Route 6) in Fall River and Somerset.

The work is scheduled to take place daily between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3rd, and Thursday, December 4th. Work is anticipated to be completed by Thursday afternoon, December 4.

Route 6 eastbound and westbound may experience some delays for the three bridge openings each day that will take approximately 15 minutes per opening.  Traffic will be monitored to minimize backups.

All scheduled work is weather dependent and/or may be impacted due to an emergency.
