Massachusetts DOT announces Westport bridge repair on I-195 for two weeks

WESTPORT – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has announced that it will be performing bridge repairs on I-195 eastbound and westbound over Sanford Road in Westport.  The work is scheduled nightly from Sunday through Thursday and will take place from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following morning, beginning on Thursday, October 2 through Thursday October 16.  Work is anticipated to be completed by Friday morning, October 17.

Lane closures on Sanford Road under I-195 will be in place. Temporary traffic alterations, including lane and shoulder closures, will occur as needed. At least one lane of travel will be maintained at all times, and police will assist with traffic control and safety setups.

Appropriate signage and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.    

Drivers traveling through the affected area should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
