Massachusetts DOT announces intersection improvement work on Route 6 in Swansea to cause lane closures into September

SWANSEA – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has announced it will be performing intersection improvement work on Route 6 at Gardners Neck Road in Swansea.

Daily work is scheduled Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Work will begin on Monday, June 8, and will continue through September 2026.

Lane closures on Route 6 and Gardners Neck Road will be in place as needed. Temporary traffic alterations, including lane and shoulder closures, will occur as needed. At least one lane of travel will be maintained at all times, and police will assist with traffic control and safety setups.

Appropriate signage and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.    

Drivers traveling through the affected area should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.    

All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
