Massachusetts DOT announces bridge repairs on I-195 to cause lane closures into late 2027

SOMERSET – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has announced that it will be performing bridge preservation repairs on I-195 at Lee’s River and Brayton Point in Somerset. The work is scheduled to take place weekly between 9:00 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. beginning on Monday, March 3, and continue through the fall of 2027.

Lane closures on I-195 eastbound and westbound will be in place. Temporary traffic alterations, including lane and shoulder closures, will occur as needed. At least one lane of travel will be maintained at all times, and police will assist with traffic control and safety setups.

Appropriate signage and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.    

Drivers traveling through the affected area should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.    

All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
