The Massachusetts Department of Fire Services is warning the public as a Fall River man is being accused of performing work without a license.

DFS has received info that Antonio Borges of Fall River is servicing commercial kitchen and exhaust systems despite a permanent surrender of his license.

Borges has been known to work in the southeastern Massachusetts area and may be using other parties’ tags.

In October of 2022, Borges, d/b/a Borges Cleaning Pro, permanently surrendered Commercial Kitchen & Exhaust System Certificate of Competency #000096 and Certificate of Registration #HCI-00058.

In February of 2022 after an investigation by the Mashpee Fire Department, Swansea Fire Dept, Wareham Fire Department, and the DFS Code Compliance & Enforcement Unit, the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal suspended Hood Cleaning Certificate HC-000096 for Borges for violations of the State Fire Code. According to Massachusetts Department of Fire Services, Borges was prohibited from conducting any regulated work involving the inspection and/or cleaning of commercial hood cleaning systems for one year followed by a three-year probationary period. Borges performed regulated cleaning and inspection of kitchen exhaust systems at several area restaurants while his certificate of competency was suspended for 90 days.

On 7/13/21, the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal issued a 180-day suspension of Hood Cleaning Certificate of Competency # HC-000096.

If you become aware of any regulated work performed by Borges, DFS asks you to contact the DFS Code Compliance & Enforcement Unit at 978-567-3375 or DFS Legal at 978-567-3181.
