Massachusetts DCR closes waters at Horseneck Beach
Massachusetts DCR is issuing a warning to swimmers at Horseneck Beach in Westport.
Massachusetts DCR is issuing a warning to swimmers at Horseneck Beach in Westport.
Today, Tuesday, July 24, 2018, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will post a double red flag warning at Horseneck Beach State Reservation starting at 5:00 p.m. due to surf and rip current conditions, which are likely to deteriorate through the afternoon and evening.
A double red flag warning indicates that the water is closed to the public. Agency lifeguards and staff will continue to inform visitors as they enter the park, and at the beach, of the ocean conditions. Additionally, the beach area and other facilities will remain open.
Tomorrow, surf and rip current conditions will be re-evaluated to determine if the double red flag warning will continue to be posted.
