Massachusetts crash seriously injures three, sends 1 on Boston MedFlight helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital
MIDDLEBOROUGH — Police Chief Robert Ferreira and Fire Chief Owen Thompson report that the Middleborough Police and Fire Departments responded to a serious crash in South Middleborough on Monday morning.
At just before 11:00 a.m., Middleborough Police and Fire responded to a 911 call reporting a crash in the area of Highland and Spruce streets.
When they arrived, first responders found two vehicles that were heavily damaged, with one person inside one vehicle and two inside another.
Middleborough firefighters then used specialized hydraulic rescue tools to free two of them from the wreckage.
All three of those involved in the crash suffered injuries that are believed to be serious, but non-life-threatening.
One of the victims was treated at the scene, then transported to a nearby landing zone on Cowan Drive and flown by a Boston MedFlight helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital.
The other two victims were transported by ambulance to local hospitals.
The crash remains under investigation by the Middleborough Police Department.
The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation also assisted at the scene.
