Massachusetts COVID-19 positive test rate jumps, hospitalizations continue increase

Massachusetts saw yet another increase in hospitalizations in Tuesday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 2,845 more positive cases announced today. An increase from Monday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate increased to 4.61%. The rate was 3.2 a week ago.

Massachusetts had seen 1,166 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 221,174 with 30 more reported dead for a total of 10,778.

The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 8,460,417 after 59,832 new molecular tests.

The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths remains at 27.

Estimated active cases decreased for the first time in weeks to 43,601.

Hospitalizations have increased in 57 of the last 78 days and 32 of the last 37, and increased by 17 to see the total raise to 1,191.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report

According to Friday’s report, Fall River has a 92.3 Average Daily Incident Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days) (86.2 last week) which is the third highest in the state among communities in the red. New Bedford sits at 45.6 (was 39.2). Westport is also in the red at 49.0 (was 46.0), Swansea is at 69.0 after nearly doubling last week to 65.8, and Somerset saw a small decrease to 57.5 (was 58.6). Freetown also saw their rate decrease as it now sits at 31.6.

Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to November 18th
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 126,742
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 115,755
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 10,987

As of December 1st, according to the CDC, the United States has seen 13,447,627 cases of COVID-19 with 267,302 reported deaths.
