Massachusetts COVID-19 cases hit over 28,000, 113 new deaths, UMass Dartmouth to be site of COVID-19 field hospital

Massachusetts has seen 1,296 more positive cases in the last 24 hours. A decrease from the previous 24 hour period.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total cases to 28,163 with 113 more reported dead for a total of 957.

Massachusetts had seen 1,392 more positive cases in the previous 24 hour period.

There were 4,502 new tests conducted for a total of 126,551. While positive results have dropped the last two days, so have the test numbers.

• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 13,027
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 5,402
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 7,625

According to the CDC, as of April 14th, the total amount of cases in the country is 579,005 with 22,252 dead.

Governor Baker stated today at a 2:00 p.m. press conference that construction is finishing this week on a 140 bed field hospital at UMass Dartmouth. According to a spokesperson for Baker, the Administration’s COVID-19 Response Command Center will release when the site is complete and ready for launch.
