Massachusetts COVID-19 cases and average death rate continue to increase
Massachusetts saw a decrease in hospitalizations in Thursday’s COVID-19 report.
Massachusetts has seen 708 more positive cases announced today. A increase from Wednesday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate increased to 1.1%.
Massachusetts had seen 510 more positive cases announced yesterday.
The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total cases to 130,461 with 23 more reported dead for a total of 9,265.
18,159 tests were performed on new individuals, over 3,700 more than yesterday’s report, to increase the amount of individuals tested to 2,252,361. The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 4,125,104.
The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths increased to 17.
Hospitalizations have increased in 12 of the last 17 days, but decreased by 2 today to see the total lower to 436.

With 8 percent putting a city or town in the red, Fall River continues to barely stay out of the red and stay a low risk community with a 7.7% Average Daily Incidence Rate per 100,000 (Last 14 days). New Bedford is in the red at 9.8 making the city still a high risk community.

• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 86,491
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 3,457
According to the CDC, as of October 1st, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 7,213,419 with 206,402 dead.
