Massachusetts continues to see uptick in COVID-19 hospitalizations, 22 more deaths reported

Massachusetts saw an increase in hospitalizations in Wednesday’s COVID-19 report.

Massachusetts has seen 646 more positive cases announced today. A decrease from Tuesday’s report. The 7 day weighted average positive test rate remains 1.3% after several increases over the past week.

Massachusetts had seen 821 more positive cases announced yesterday.

The Massachusetts Department of Health statistics show a rise in total confirmed cases to 142,941 with 22 more reported dead for a total of 9,559.

12,722 tests were performed on new individuals, over 4,500 less than yesterday’s report, to increase the amount of individuals tested to 2,562,247. The overall amount of tests administered in Massachusetts is now 5,366,394.

The 3 day average of COVID-19 deaths lowered to 14.

Hospitalizations have increased in 24 of the last 37 days and increased by 2 today to see the total rise to 519.

Weekly COVID-19 Public Health Report

Massachusetts residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine by current status up to October 14th
• Total of individuals subject to quarantine: 94,733
• Total of individuals who have completed monitoring (no longer in quarantine): 90,607
• Total of individuals currently undergoing monitoring/under quarantine: 4,126

The weekly reports will now be issued on Thursday instead of the usual Wednesday, according to DPH.

According to the CDC, as of October 21st, the total amount of COVID-19 cases in the country is 8,249,011 with 220,362 dead.
