WOBURN – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Massachusetts Department of Revenue Commissioner Geoffrey Snyder have announced that 47-year-old Jean Brito of Woburn, has been indicted on five counts of tax evasion and five counts of making or subscribing false tax returns for his business. He was arraigned yesterday in Middlesex Superior Court and was released with the conditions of surrendering his passport and to not apply for any new ones, to only travel to states in New England and to request any travel outside of New England to the court and to sign a waiver of rendition. The next court date is March 18th.

Between 2018 and 2023, Brito was the owner of Boston Quality Clean Services, located in Medford. During this time Brito allegedly underreported his business income by over $20 million dollars and evaded more than $1.2 million in personal income tax. It is alleged that Brito cashed checks payable to his business at check cashers instead of depositing them into his business operated bank account.  He also provided his tax return preparers with incomplete financial records, causing them to prepare inaccurate returns which were filed with the Department of Revenue.

On February 4, 2026, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, assisted by Department of Revenue and Federal Bureau of Investigations agents, executed search warrants at a Woburn residence and a Medford business. Officers located approximately $35,000 in cash, various documents and electronic devices.

This case was investigated by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Department of Revenue, and the Massachusetts State Police Crime Prevention and Control Unit. The prosecutor assigned to this case is Graham Van Epps.
