Man’s dead body found floating in Massachusetts river, third dead body found in that area in 26 months
BROCKTON – Massachusetts State Police and Brockton Police responded Thursday to reports of a dead body discovered floating in a river located near the Brockton Department of Public Works, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz has announced.
The man whose body was ultimately recovered has yet to be identified.
At approximately 5:00 p.m. local police received reports from employees at the Brockton Department of Public Works of a deceased man whose body was floating in a river adjacent to the water treatment plant.
The body was recovered by the Massachusetts State Police Underwater Recovery Unit and taken into the custody of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
An investigation into the circumstances which led to Thursday’s discovery, and efforts to
identify the decedent, are active and ongoing.
It is at least the third body found in this general area in the last 2 years.
