Man with more than 80 charges/convictions held in Bristol County, released due to COVID-19 concerns

The Bristol County Sheriff’s Office has released an update on their Prisoner Release Alert System today with the latest individual released from jail because of COVID-19 concerns.

According to the BCSO, this individual, who was a pre-trial inmate facing Cocaine Distribution, Resisting Arrest and Negligent Operation charges, was being held in jail on bail, but had his bail reduced by a different judge because of COVID-19 fears, and was subsequently bailed out of jail and is now out on the streets.

The BCSO stated that the man has more than 80 charges/convictions on his record, including Assault & Battery on a pregnant victim, fentanyl, heroin and many gun-related offenses.

“The people have a right to know who’s walking around their neighborhoods,” Bristol County Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgson said. “The only reason this individual with a rap sheet pages and pages long is out in the community right now is because a judge feared he may contract COVID while behind bars. Releasing prisoners because of COVID fears is wrong and not in the best interest of public safety.”

What is wrong with these judges!!!! Does he think he will follow the rules and quarantine? Why would he he hasn’t obeyed any other laws. The courts are closed for so many things yet this is allowed!! I am furious with this and others that have been let out especially domestic abuse offenders. They have already re offended so the virus has nothing to do with it. Who is monitoring these people. I still can’t believe that the people who obey the law have less rights than the ones that don’t. The whole system is screwed up, when one person a judge decides that someone with this kind of record is safe out on the streets. Over 80, where have all the judges been before this!!??? Why should I have to worry about my safety from someone who is getting a free ride. They are arresting people for not wearing masks, and having too many people together. Closing down stores because they aren’t complient and they let a scumbag, a menace and threat to innocent people out and about. Put him in solitary and he won’t have to worry about it!!!! I know I’m rattling on but am very, very upset, especially knowing that their is nothing a good citizen can do. This judge should just step down as far as I’m concerned because he has no concern for others!!! So,so sad
