Man who escaped police custody in handcuffs, arrested in Providence
A fugitive who escaped police custody while in handcuffs, was captured over the weekend in Providence.
According to police, on Sunday, detectives from the Palisades Park Police Department assisted agents with the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force in apprehending 24-year-old Adilson Estrada-Garcia of Cliffside Park, New Jersey who escaped from custody on March 3, 2022.
Estrada-Garcia was being detained as a suspect in a Palisades Park burglary investigation when he fled from custody. Palisades Park Police detectives quickly tracked Estrada-Garcia to Providence, Rhode Island.
Detectives notified the local authorities and the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force for assistance. At 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Estrada-Garcia was arrested and taken into custody by US Marshals Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force without incident.
Estrada-Garcia was lodged in Rhode Island State Corrections facility pending extradition to New Jersey.
