A man has been sentenced after a Fall River collision that injured multiple paramedics on July 4th of last year.

According to Fall River EMS, at approximately 10:45 p.m., EMS Training 1, a 2018 Chevy 2500HD extended cab full size pickup truck operating with all of its emergency lighting activated, was escorting EV1, a lightweight mini off-road Ambulance that is used to evacuate patients from highly congested areas with limited access to a main road, to a waiting full size Ambulance for transport.

During this time, an alleged impaired operator slammed into the rear of Training 1 causing significant damage to Training 1 and injuring all 3 paramedics that were in the vehicle.

All parties involved were transported to the hospital. The paramedics suffered minor injuries and were all discharged.

According to Det. Sergeant Moses Pereira, the collision took place on Davol Street at Central Street.

On Wednesday, Robert Tremblay pled guilty to OUI-Liquor or .08%, 2nd Offense and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 60 days suspended, 1 year probation, and a 24D program, according to court records.

Under Section 24D, qualifying cases will be continued without a finding and the defendant placed on probation for no more than two years. The defendant who successfully gets a 24D must enroll and successfully complete a driver alcohol education program.
