Man medflighted with serious injuries after Bridgewater crash
BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher D. Delmonte reports that the Bridgewater Police Department is investigating a crash where a pedestrian was struck by a car and injured Tuesday night, Oct. 19.
At approximately 9 p.m. Tuesday, Bridgewater Police received a 911 call reporting a pedestrian crash at the intersection of Bedford Street and Grove Street.
Upon arrival, officers located a 20-year-old victim from Foxboro, who was suffering from serious injuries.
The victim was transported by a Bridgewater Fire Department ambulance to a nearby location and was subsequently picked up by a medical helicopter and flown to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Raynham Police Department Accident Reconstruction Officer Brian Silva responded to the scene to assist in the investigation.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was near the crosswalk and the vehicle, a green 2005 Toyota Camry, allegedly struck the victim near the west side of Bedford Street. Speed is not believed to be a factor at this time and the crash remains under investigation by Bridgewater Police Officer Robert Gray and Detective Kevin Kearns.
The driver, a 28-year-old Buzzards Bay woman, remained at the scene and was cooperative with police.
