Man killed Friday morning in crash on Route 24
Massachusetts State Police Troopers from State Police-Middleborough continue to investigate this morning’s single-vehicle crash in West Bridgewater that resulted in the fatality of a Millis man.
Just before 2:30 a.m., a 2005 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on Route 24 in West Bridgewater when, for reasons that remain under investigation, it veered off the western edge of the roadway. The investigation indicates that the Corolla traveled down a grass embankment and continued along the tree line, where it impacted several trees and rolled over.
The driver was determined to be deceased at the scene. He is identified as Kevin P. O’Rourke, 66, of Millis.
The crash remains under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and State Police Detective Unit for Plymouth County. Troopers were also assisted on scene by West Bridgewater firefighters and Massachusetts Department of Transportation workers. The right travel lane was closed in the area of the crash to facilitate the rescue response and investigation. The lane was reopened at approximately 5:30 a.m.
