Man intentionally placed himself on tracks before being struck and killed by Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority train

More details have been released concerning an incident involving a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority train.
At approximately 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, a Providence line train that departed from Wickford Junction, collided with a man, killing him.
According to MBTA Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan on Friday, an adult male intentionally placed himself in the right of way and was struck by the MBTA train.
The male was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained.
Sullivan offered condolences to the family.
“On behalf of the TPD and the entire MBTA organization we would like to express our most sincere condolences to the decedent’s family and loved ones.”
The victim’s name was not released.
