Man held without bail in Fall River Superior Court on drug trafficking and possession charges
A local man was arraigned Monday in Fall River Superior Court after an arrest earlier this year on drug charges.
According to Westport Police, on February 4th, at just after 1:30 a.m., Officer Sean Munzing was on patrol in the area of State Road (Route 6). A vehicle passed his location without a front license plate and Officer Munzing initiated a motor vehicle stop.
The operator, Walter Brewster Gomes, told Officer Munzing he did not have his license on him. A query of the license status revealed Gomes had a suspended license. Officer Munzing then placed Gomes under arrest.
During the booking process, Gomes was searched. As a result, one bag of suspected crack cocaine weighing 31 grams, one bag of suspected cocaine weighing 29 grams and one bag of suspected adderall pills (18) was found on him.
Subsequently, Gomes was charged with motor vehicle offenses along with one count of Trafficking A Controlled Substance (Class B) and Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class E)
Gomes pled not guilty at his initial arraignment and was held on $5,000 cash bail.
He was indicted in Fall River Superior Court in September on two counts of Trafficking Cocaine, 36-100 Grams and Possession to Distribute Class E Drug.
According to court records, on Monday, Gomes pled not guilty and was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on October 16th.
