Man held without bail in District Court on gun and drug charges after Bristol County highway stop

RAYNHAM — The Raynham Police Department arrested a Bridgewater man on firearm and drug charges following a motor vehicle stop on Saturday night.

Over the weekend, while investigating an unrelated incident at a local hotel, Raynham Police received information that 36-year-old Ryan O’Day of Bridgewater was in possession of a 9mm handgun.

On Saturday, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Officer Daniel Kelly located a vehicle registered to O’Day at a gas station on Broadway. After officers conducted surveillance, they stopped the vehicle on Route 138 after observing it had a defective license plate light.

During the motor vehicle stop, officers learned that neither the woman driving the car nor O’Day had a valid driver’s license. They were detained during the investigation.

When O’Day was removed from the vehicle, a crack pipe fell from his lap. During a subsequent search, officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun from a bag in the trunk, along with a holster, drug paraphernalia, and suspected fentanyl and crack cocaine.

He was arrested and charged with Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Class A Drug, and Possession of a Class B Drug

Court records show that O’Day was arraigned Monday in Taunton District Court where he pled not guilty and was held without bail pending a Wednesday dangerousness hearing.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
